“The surgery is one day. Recovery is the months around it — how prepared and supported you are in those months shapes the whole experience.”
Paul N. Morton, MDFellowship-trained robotic hip & knee surgeon
How it works
Your insurance pays for the care. Membership adds the support.
Three simple ideas keep it clear. Your medical care is billed to insurance as always; membership is a separate, optional layer for the support insurance doesn’t cover.
1
Your insurance, unchanged
Your covered visits and surgery are billed to insurance the same way — with or without membership.
2
The fee is for the extras
Membership pays only for non-covered support: coordination, equipment, travel help and access.
3
Completely your choice
Declining changes nothing about your care, your surgeon or your medical priority on the schedule.
Your insurance pays for
Visits, surgery and all medically necessary care.
Your membership pays for
Optional, non-covered support around that care.
Enroll
About six weeks before surgery
Enrolling takes five minutes, and there’s no pressure either way.
Surgery
Your operation, billed to insurance
Exactly as always, with or without membership.
Recover
Through one full year after
Your membership runs for a full year after surgery.
What makes the difference
Precision. Balance. Joint Optimization.
“PBJ” is our name and the three parts of how Dr. Morton gets patients back to life, members or not.
P
Precision
Robotic-assisted surgery (ROSA, CORI or MAKO) planned to your exact anatomy, for better alignment and less tissue stress.
B
Balance
A recovery strategy built to control swelling and inflammation at every step, so you move sooner and more comfortably.
J
Joint Optimization
Coordinated care before and after surgery — health, nutrition, prehab — that protects your long-term result.

Rapid Recovery Concierge FAQs
What is The PBJ Rapid Recovery Concierge?
It is an optional membership that takes care of the support around your hip or knee replacement — coordination, equipment, travel help and access. It sits alongside Dr. Morton’s PBJ approach to care: Precision — robotic-assisted surgery planned to your exact anatomy; Balance — a recovery strategy built to control swelling and inflammation at every step; and Joint Optimization — coordinated care before and after surgery that protects your long-term result. Your surgery and medical care are still billed to your insurance, exactly as always. Three levels — Accelerated Recovery, Concierge Recovery and Elite Recovery — add optional, non-covered support on top.
Do I have to join a membership?
No. Membership is completely optional. If it isn’t the right fit, nothing about your care, your surgeon or your medical priority on the schedule changes. Every patient receives Your Surgical Care — expert hip and knee surgery and all medically necessary care, billed to insurance — with no fee and no membership required.
Will a resident or fellow perform or assist with my surgery?
No. Dr. Morton personally performs every surgery, start to finish. There are no residents or fellows performing or assisting with your operation — and that is true for every patient, member or not.
What does membership cover, and what does insurance cover?
Your insurance covers your visits, your surgery and all medically necessary care, billed the same way with or without membership. Membership pays only for optional, non-covered support around that care: coordination, equipment, travel help and access.
Does membership change my place on the surgical schedule?
No. Membership does not change your place on the surgical schedule, and the timing of your surgery is always based on what is right for you medically.
Can I reach Dr. Morton directly?
With Concierge Recovery you have Dr. Morton’s direct line for routine questions through your recovery, within reasonable limits. It is a concierge convenience, not a replacement for urgent or emergency care: in an emergency, call 911.
What is Recovery Assurance?
Recovery Assurance is surgical-complication protection through an independent program, included with Concierge Recovery. The terms are provided at enrollment, so your coordinator can walk you through them.
How much does membership cost?
Prices are not published on this page. Current membership pricing is available from your coordinator or at the front desk, and your coordinator goes through the levels with you before anything is booked. Call (808) 439-6201 or ask at your visit.
Does insurance reimburse membership, or can I use my HSA or FSA?
Membership is separate from insurance. It is for services insurance doesn’t cover, so insurance won’t reimburse it, and it isn’t HSA- or FSA-eligible either. For how it affects your own taxes, your tax advisor is the best person to ask.
Is membership available with every kind of coverage?
Membership pays only for non-covered services, and which levels and benefits we can offer depends on your type of coverage. Your coordinator will confirm what applies to you. Every patient receives Your Surgical Care either way.
When does membership start and end?
Every membership runs from enrollment — about six weeks before surgery — through one full year after. A pro-rata refund applies if surgery is canceled or you’re found not to be a surgical candidate.
Which level is recommended for most patients?
Concierge Recovery is recommended for most patients: it is the full support system around your surgery. Accelerated Recovery is the lighter option for patients who want preparation, equipment and answers handled, and Elite Recovery is built for neighbor-island travelers and patients recovering without help at home.
I’m coming from another island or from off-island. Can you handle the logistics?
Yes — that is what Elite Recovery is for. It adds travel and lodging planning on one itinerary for neighbor-island and off-island patients (travel costs are not included), plus an advanced recovery kit, on top of everything in Concierge Recovery. The practice’s fly-in program and neighbor-island care explain how the trip itself is planned.
Ready when you are.
Ask your coordinator any question — about the levels, your insurance or what makes sense for you. Enrolling takes five minutes, and there’s no pressure either way. Call (808) 439-6201 Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, or Saturday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Hawai‘i time, schedule online in Klara, or email Contact@pacificboneandjoint.com.
